Sometimes Fabulous Finds literally fly in the door—or in this case, sit next to me on an airplane! Through happenstance I learned about this fabulous product and company, based right here in Connecticut! Sue and Tony started Civitello Biscotti with the goal to provide healthy, tasty and easy to make biscotti using a generations-old family recipe…and after trying these insanely addictive cookies—may I say Missione Compiuta!
Civitello Biscotti currently offers 12 flavors, including some more traditional flavors like orange almond anise and espresso chocolate chip hazelnut, to some unique combinations including cherry chocolate coconut pecan, banana chocolate chip, lemon ginger, and my personal fave, fig walnut. The mixes use natural and organic dried fruits and nuts, along with white whole wheat flour, and are free of preservatives, artificial additives, colorings or high fructose corn syrup. One of the most fabulous features of the biscotti mix is that all of the ingredients are pre-measured and individually packaged and labeled, making the process and clean-up a snap! In fact, Civitello Biscotti recently swept—that’s right–1st, 2nd, 3rd place—for the CT Specialty Food Association 2012 awards in their category!
The cookie mixes range from $7.95 to $10.95 per package, with each box yielding about 14 cookies. They can be purchased directly from www.civitellobiscotti.com or through specialty food stores.
