Pottery That Makes You Smile...

Sarah Bak Pottery

With her mom who collected pottery from every state that we visited, my love for clay started at a young age. I remember visiting a potter's studio and being mesmerized the first time watching someone throw a pot. My high school didn't have specific ceramic classes, but I was able to do an independent study, which was my first brief introduction to working with clay. Entering college, I was torn between a love for science, and art. After a summer spent interning at Eckles Pottery Shop in Bayfield, Wisconsin, I realized with ceramics, I could have both. I spent three summers at Eckels during college, and earned my BFA from Bradley University in 1995. After years working in arts related retail and non-profit arts administration, I am now spending more time focused on clay and family, including my two adorable kiddos.
